Meet our experienced and friendly staff
CEO/ PT Instructor
Having been a Fire-fighter in Melbourne for more than 33 years, playing a part in creating and running Seahaven has given me the opportunity to continue serving the community and helping those in need. During my time with the Fire Brigade, I was a fitness instructor and provided exercise and dietary advice to my colleges. My hobbies include classic cars and motorbikes, keeping fit and spending time with my lovely wife and our two dogs. I love all animals, and some think I am a little odd when they learn that spiders and snakes are amongst my favourites.
Art Therapy Facilitator/AOD Support
Background: I’m currently studying 2nd year Diploma Community Services and hold an Advanced Diploma of Therapeutic Arts Counselling. I am also on the committee for the Orwil Street Community House. I use my empathy and lived experience’s to mentor and facilitate Creative Therapeutic Art processes to express the deeper narrative of the psych using a holistic solution focussed approach. I also enjoy spending time with my cat MaXx.
I’ve been working in drug and alcohol rehabilitation for years now and I am very passionate about the work. I worked in California in out-patient facilities as well as across Victoria and have really enjoyed seeing people find hope and turn their lives around. I originally started working in drug and alcohol rehabs after some of my close friends lost everything to addiction, including one of their lives. I made a decision to pursue this career and start being part of the solution. I love reading, spending time in the pool and hanging out with my friends and family.
After working in law enforcement for 10 years, I needed a change. I wanted to stay within my passion which was community service so I combined my administrative knowledge and love for community services and found the perfect job here at Seahaven. I look forward to furthering my studies in the AOD sector.
Outside of work, I love playing drums, seeing live bands and adding to my tattoo collection.
Background: I have battled addiction in my past and have overcome so many hurdles, which has made me come to be sure of my path in life, which is to help others through similar struggles. I’m all about no judgement and building people up as I love to empower people. It’s so humbling to know that this is truly my calling. I work in a centre based approach to help bring out the happy, healthier you that you’ve been missing or may not have even known yet. Some of my hobbies are music, dancing, swimming and basketball which I also coach.
Qualified and experienced, I have worked in the community services and private sector for 13 years in various rewarding roles. I’ve worked with both youth and adults with addiction and co-occurring disorders, and have specialised in working with forensic clients. I facilitate groups based on a solution focused model, with a client centred approach. I believe that addiction can be treated, and I’m extremely passionate and motivated to help clients build a strong foundation for recovery, sharing my own knowledge, experience, strength and hope!
With a unique background in community services as well as lived experiences, I have grown to understand the interaction between AOD challenges and recovery. Using skills learned and my passion for working collaboratively with those who are currently going through the early stages of recovery I provide a safe space where hope thrives. I work within a person-centred approach and rights-based approach framework to empower individuals. I see the individual and not their challenges.
I enjoy all things culinary, from preserving seasonal vegs to making soaps and curing meats. And exploring new places with my wife and our dog (Zuri).
For me there is no greater gift then walking alongside those on a journey of recovery. Drawing upon my lived experience and formal training in Alcohol and Other Drugs I provide evidence-based solution-focused care with an empathetic, nurturing and recovery-oriented approach.
Fostering a safe and inclusive environment for people to re-discover their authentic selves is an upmost priority and absolute honour for me. I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, collecting tattoo’s, experiencing new cultures and eating great food
